A Dreamy Wedding at Barton House Redlands
Share
Lisset and Albert’s Barton House Redlands wedding was whimsical, timeless, and filled with so much joy; everything we love about designing florals for historic garden venues. From the start, their vision centered around dreamy details and a soft butter yellow color palette, which felt perfectly at home in this historic Redlands wedding venue.
As their wedding florist, we collaborated closely to create florals and design elements that felt personal, elevated, and cohesive with the natural beauty of Barton House Redlands. While we typically design around a color palette rather than specific flower varieties, we understand that certain flowers may have sentimental significance for couples, so when seasonally possible we do our best to source it. The groom’s favorite flowers are calla lilies, and because it held a special meaning for the couple and it was seasonally available, we made it a priority to thoughtfully incorporate calla lilies into the floral design.

Why We Love Designing Weddings at Barton House Redlands
Barton House Redlands is a historic landmark in the heart of Redlands, California, known for its timeless architecture and beautifully maintained grounds. Built in the early 1900s, the venue blends classic elegance with a lush garden setting, making it an ideal choice for couples who love romantic, outdoor weddings with a sense of history.
One of the standout features of Barton House Redlands is its outdoor ceremony lawn, framed by mature trees, manicured hedges, and stunning white rose gardens. These established garden elements naturally elevate the space, allowing florals to enhance the environment without overwhelming it; something we always consider when designing for this venue.
October is also an especially lovely time to get married at Barton House Redlands. Southern California’s fall weather offers sunny days and clear skies, and the venue’s sweeping views of the San Gorgonio Mountains create a breathtaking backdrop for ceremonies and portraits alike.

Getting Ready at Barton House Redlands
The venue also features a spacious bridal suite filled with natural light, which is ideal for both comfort and photography. From a florist’s perspective, this space is perfect for capturing bouquet details, personal florals, and soft, natural portraits; one of the many reasons we love working at Barton House Redlands.

A Garden Ceremony at Barton House Redlands
The afternoon ceremony took place on the green lawn, surrounded by mature trees and blooming white rose shrubs that enhanced the garden-inspired feel. One of the sweetest moments was seeing the couple’s pet dogs serve as the ring bearer and flower girl. It was an unforgettable and heartfelt detail that fit seamlessly with the relaxed elegance of the venue.
To reinforce the cohesive design, flowing ribbon bows adorned the inner row of ceremony chairs, subtly guiding the eye down the aisle and echoing other soft details throughout the day.

Bridal & Bridesmaid Bouquets: Romantic, Ethereal Details
The bride and bridesmaid bouquets carried that same romantic, ethereal feel, designed with soft movement and airy textures. Flowing ribbons were added to each bouquet, creating gentle motion and tying the personal florals back to the overall design. These ribbons intentionally echoed the bows used on the ceremony chairs and the pearl-embellished fruit at the reception, creating a cohesive thread that connected every part of the day; from aisle to tablescape.

Reception Design: Thoughtful Florals & Playful Details
For the reception, we leaned fully into the butter yellow color palette with a mix of classic textures and playful accents. Ivory linens created a timeless foundation, while scalloped-edge bud vases in varying sizes added movement and visual interest across the tables. Butter yellow taper candles in three different heights brought warmth and glow as the evening unfolded.
A standout design element was the use of pearl-embellished lemons and pears, styled alongside the florals. Each fruit featured custom patterns—polka dots, stripes, florals, and scallops—with some even adorned with the couple’s initials for a personalized touch. Soft bows were added for an extra layer of romance, mirroring the ribbons used throughout the wedding design.

The Power of a Cohesive Wedding Design Plan
This wedding came together so seamlessly thanks to an incredible team of creative vendor partners, all working toward a shared vision. One of the keys to achieving that level of cohesion is having a clear, thoughtfully designed mood board. The Fern Cottage team created the mood board for this wedding to ensure every vendor; from florals to rentals to stationery; was aligned on color, texture, and overall feeling.
When vendors are on the same page visually, the result is a wedding day that feels intentional, elevated, and effortless. We’re so grateful to have collaborated with such a talented group of creatives (listed below) who helped bring this dreamy Barton House Redlands wedding to life.

Testimonial
“I just had the wedding of my dreams, and I can’t thank Stephanie enough for the role she played in making it so magical. From our very first in-person consultation, she made the process feel so easy and exciting. Even though I’m not the best with words, she was able to take all the inspiration photos I shared and create a mood board that perfectly captured my vision.
She didn’t just meet my expectations—she exceeded them. Every floral detail (& adorned fruit) was stunning and thoughtfully arranged, and seeing it all come to life on my wedding day was truly surreal. I’m still on cloud nine!
If you’re thinking of booking Stephanie, don’t hesitate. She’s incredibly talented, passionate, and truly wonderful at her craft. You won’t regret it.”
